The strength of a tree lies in the group it grows with. WALD is an environmental arboriculture practice caring for canopy, soil and habitat as one living whole.
No tree
grows alone.
Most tree work treats a tree as a feature — a single specimen to shape, admire or remove. WALD starts somewhere else: trees are strongest in connected groups.
Roots share water and signals. Canopies break the wind for one another. Leaf litter feeds the soil that feeds it all. A backyard, a street, a paddock — cared for well, each one is a small forest.
Environmental arboriculture means reading every tree in its context, and choosing what strengthens the whole.

Mia founded WALD to care for trees the way a forest does — as a community. The name is the German word for forest: a nod to her roots, and to the idea at the heart of her work.
